The life of high school junior Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld) is already awkward when her all-star older brother Darian (Blake Jenner) starts dating her best friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson). Nadine now feels more alone than ever, until the unexpected friendship with an awkward thoughtful boy (Hayden Szeto) gives her a glimmer of hope that things might not be so terrible after all. The film also stars Kyra Sedgwick as Nadine's well-meaning but ineffective mother, and Woody Harrelson as Nadine's history teacher, mentor and reluctant sounding board.

"A terrific teen comedy with the traditional feel of John Hughes's Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink." -Kate Muir, Times

"The Edge of Seventeen" is the rare coming-of-age picture that feels less like a retread than a renewal. It's a disarmingly smart, funny and thoughtful piece of work, from end to beginning to end." -Justin Chang, Los Angeles Times
