MILLIE LIES LOW
What do you do when you feel you can’t live up to everyone’s expectations? En route to a prestigious New York internship, Millie (Scotney) suffers a panic attack and misses the flight. Filled with shame, she decides to lie low until she can come up with the cash for another flight. Meanwhile Millie must convince everyone she really is in the Big Apple and not living in a tent in her Mum’s Wellington backyard, via an elaborate series of antics and evasions. A highly creative comedy of errors, Millie Lies Low is also a thoughtful exploration of impostor syndrome and the ways anxiety can distort decision making. Director and co-writer Michelle Savill has audiences rooting for this cringe-inducing but loveable protagonist through every moment.
