Met Opera – ADRIANA LECOUVREUR
Composer: Francesco Cilea
Conductor: Gianandrea Noseda
Performers: Anna Netrebko, Anita Rachvelishvili, Piotr Beczala, Carlo Bosi, Aaaambrogio Maestri
In a Met first Anna Netrebko sings the role of Adriana Lecouvreur, the eighteenth-century actress whose real-life intrigues inspired this tragic opera. Adriana is courted by many but loves only Maurizio (Piotr Beczaퟀ,a), who adores her in return. When Maurizio tries to extricate himself from his previous lover, the Princess of Bouillon (Anita Rachvelishvili), the princess discovers that Adriana is her rival and takes desperate measures of her own. The staging of this promises to be of particular interest as the action is partly set in a working replica of a Baroque theatre.
