It’s 1904 and the year of the St. Louis World Fair. The Smith family of four daughters have a comfortable life and the two eldest, Rose and Esther have burgeoning romances although Esther is struggling to get the attention of her heart’s desire, and when she does, he seems to give the impression that he admires her as a sturdy kind of girl! Both girl’s are devastated when their father announces that he must move the family to New York for business reasons.
